Avnet Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC / AD9361 Software-Defined Radio Evaluation Kit

Hi ,
Had a few queries regarding the Zynq-7000 AP SoC / AD9361 Software-Defined Radio Systems Development Kit. We are in the process of identifying a platform that helps us test the performance of the AD9361, which we use as our radio board.
The two Development kits that we are looking at are the AES-ZSDR2-ADI-G and the AES-ZSDR3-ADI-G which work on the AD-FMCOMMS2-EBZ and the AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ respectively.
Couple of questions though :
We have the AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ already with us , we would like to know if the AES-ZSDR2-ADI-G development kit would work on the  AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ FMC module , which means can we use the AES-ZSDR2-ADI-G to work and be compatible on a  AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ  FMC modul ?
If not , the AES-ZSDR3-ADI-G seems to be working on the AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ  FMC module  already , so in that case , we would like to know if we can just use the Xilinx Zynq®-7000 All-Programmable SoC evalution kit and not purchase the AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ  FMC module as we already have it ?
Please let me know if any more information is required.

FMCOMMS2/3 are both

FMCOMMS2/3 are both compatible with ZedBoard, ZC702 and ZC706. The ADI wiki will give you more detail. Here's a good starting point for the COMMS boards.

2.Also once we purchase this AES-ZSDR2-ADI-G , could you let us know if there is any point of contact other than the support forum online ?.Also would you be able to provide us with the lead time for this AES-ZSDR2-ADI-G ?

AD9361/Zynq Z-7035 Interface

Hi Gary , 
As you had suggested , we are looking at the PicoZed SDR , i had a small query regarding the AD9361/Zynq Z-7035 Interface , 
According to the block diagram of the AD9361/Zynq Z-7035 Interface in the following link :

(Page 17 , figure 7), we get a CLK_OUT from the AD9361 , could you tell us which pin it goes to in the Zynq Z-7035 and where can we locate it ?Do uou have any PIN_OUT diagram of the Zynq Z-7035 that you can provide us .

The AES-ZSDR2-ADI-G is a kit that includes a ZedBoard carrier and an FMCOMMS2 module. ZedBoard is also compatible with FMCOMMS3.

 

The AD9361_CLKOUT signal is connected to the Z7035 on bank 35, pin K12 (see below). The schematic is available on the docs page -- http://picozed.org/support/documentation/10511

Hi ,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I understand that the AD9361_CLKOUT signal is connected to the Z7035 on bank 35, pin K12.
But what we need is,  we would like to know if the  board has a test port or something like that for us to connect any test equipment such as a spectrum analyzer to test the functions oft the AD9361.

AD9361_CLKOUT is only routed

AD9361_CLKOUT is only routed to the Zynq device. However, you could create a design using Xilinx Vivado software that routes the signal to a user I/O of the SOM and pick it up on a carrier card like the FMC Carrier or Breakout Carrier.

The SOM also includes U.FL miniature coax connectors for all RF signals. That's where you could probe with your spectrum analyzer. The Development Kit ships with 2 U.FL-to-SMA cables that would make your connection easier.

The Avnet Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC / AD9361 Software-Defined Radio Evaluation Kit arrived yesterday (aes-zsdr2-adi-g).
Couple of questions though, when we tried to power on the board after assembling the hardware , it did not boot up from the SD card within 45 seconds,.Also its written in the user manual that we need UBUNTU deskstop/linux , does the board only support UBUNTU , cant it run on Windows as we are using WINDOWS on our monitor.
 
Also there are two SD cards provided in the kit , could you tell why we would require the 4GB SD card?

Also the OTG cable provided in the kit , we connected it to the USB OTG port on the Zedboard , but it failed to recognize the mouse/keyboard.
So we cannot access the IIO Oscilloscope after the boot up .
 
Also we got a blank screeen with the " DIGILENT" logo after boot up .
Could you kindly assist us with this .

You should have received another SD card with the kit - an 8GB version pre-programmed with the Analog Devices Linux reference design.

 

The instructions in the Getting Started Card will take you through boot up and interacting with IIO scope.
