ES1 Silicon License

ES1 Silicon License

I am pretty positive I have ES1 silicon (JTAG ID 04710093). However, there was no voucher in the shipment to get an ES1 license for Vivado. I have multiple seats of Vivado, but 2016.4 will not target this device without a license for ES1. I have contacted Avnet customer support about the missing voucher, but they closed my case saying that this product does not come with a voucher. How is that possible? How am I supposed to build anything and target this board if I am unable to get an ES1 license? I am not aware of a way to get a license without a voucher.

Thanks,
Derek

maybe related issue "-ES1" vs. "-EVAL" parts

I may have a related issues.
my Linux 2016.4 is showing only "-EVAL" parts, but UltraZed voucher .lic was generaedted for "-ES1" parts.

Hello Ryosuke,

Hello Ryosuke,

Did you recieve an ES1 device(red) or production device (black)? Also did you purchase just the SOM or the whole starter kit?

Thanks,

Josh

Hi Josh,

http://zedboard.org/content/ultrazed-eg-board-files-not-found-vivado

Hi Josh,
I'm sorry, I misunderstood.
I received a production device.
But I have another issue. UltraZed-EG Board File is not detected in Vivado.
I thought that the problem will be solved by what the above thread says.
I dont know what causes it.

Thanks,
Ryosuke

Hello Ryosuke,

Hello Ryosuke,

What version of Vivado are you using? If you could please download Vivado 2017.2 if not done so and retry again that would be appreciated.

The reason I ask this is that in Vivado 2016.4 or older it appears that the Zynq UltraScale+ device is only in an eval stage not production. That would prevent the BDF from loading correctly.

Thanks,

Josh

Thank you.

Hello Josh,

I used Vivado v2016.4.
After I changed its version to 2017.2, the problem was solved!

Thank you so much,
Ryosuke

Hi JFoster,

Hi JFoster,
I ordered an EG SOM (UltraZed-EG™ SOM - Zynq UltraSCALE 3EG) and an PCIe Carrier card for a friend. However, didn't see an EG-license activation code in the package. Can we apply for a license?

Hello liyumove,

Hello liyumove,

Is the SOM you purchased a production silicon device?(Black Silkscreen)

The production silicon devices are supported in in Vivado WebPack free of charge so we do not provide a license with those.

Regards,

Josh

Hi J

Hi J
Yes, it is a black silkscreen one and we can use WebPack version for development.
Thank you, J :)

Adding Board Support Files for UltraZed

I am following the UltraZed Board Definition Files Installation Instructions and Tutorial 2016.4.  It says to copy the files into the data/boards/board_files folder, which I did.
But none of the boards appears when I try to create a new project.  Do I need to get a specific license for the UltraZynq to get these files to work?  Or otherwise what am I doing wrong?

Helolo Docjay,

Helolo Docjay,

Please install Vivado 2017.2 or newer Vivado Webpack and then install the 2017.2 board definition files. The Production Silicon SOMS do not require a license as they are supported by default in Vivado 2017.2 Webpack.

You are using a Production Silicon SOM correct?(black silkscreen)
