Hello Denn,

Hello Denn,

Did you install the UltraScale+ ES1 Vivado License that should have shipped with you kit? If you did not, then this is your issue.

Hi Dennisminton,

Hi Dennisminton,

Can you double check for me that you installed your license correctly. Open up your Vivado License Manager and click on View License Status. Then double check that for your UltraScale+ ES1 devices under the "Host IDs Match" section it reads YES. Then also look at the Version Limit Sectioin and make sure it is ok to operate in the Tool version you are using. What Version of Vivado are you using?

Thanks,

Josh

Hello Josh,

Hello Josh,
The 2 license names I listed before. Host IDs Match section reads YES
Version limit is 2018.4 for both, and I am using 2016.4
Is UltraScale+ ES1 the same license name as eczu3eg-es1 ? Or should I see "UltraScale" in the license name ?

Hi Dennisminton,

Hi Dennisminton,

Sorry about the confusion, yes eczu3eg-ea1 is what I am refering to when I say UltraScale. What operating system are you using? I would image windows correct? Please verify that you have the following files located in the following directory : C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2016.4\data\boards\board_files

These 3 files should be present :

ultrazed_3eg_iocc_es1

ultrazed_3eg_pciecc_es1

ultrazed_3eg_som_es1

Hi Dennisminton,

Hi Dennisminton,

Did you follow the instructions on the quick start card. Specifically the step where it asks you to create a text file called init.tcl and place that file in the Vivado scripts folder?

Same Issue Not Resolved

Hi Josh,
I am having the same issue, where board definition files are not detected.  I have done everything just like the instructions and the discussions in this post.
The only difference from this post is that I have installed 2017.1 version of Vivado.
Your help is appreciated.
Thank you,
PR

Hello Prodanair,

Hello Prodanair,

You are most likely facing the issue outlined in this post : http://zedboard.org/content/vivado-20171-ultrazed-es1-license-installation

Please test and see if this resolved your issue.

Not Resolved

Hi Josh,
I tried changing the file name to "vivado_init.tcl" but to no success.  The link you sent was not solved.  The user had uninstalled the 2017.1 Vivado version and reverted back to 2016.4 version.  Is this the recommendation?
Thank you,
Ridian

Not Resolved

Hi Josh,
Unfortunately that did not solve the problem either.  I tried using Vivado_init.tcl, upper case 'V', but the board package is still not detected.
Let me know if there is other information you would like me to provide.
Thank you,
Ridian

Hello Prodanir,

Hello Prodanir,

Josephamos just posted a few helpful tips in how her was able to get his license installed correctly in VIvado 2017.1.

Specifically take a look at his first mention "1) The 2017.1 installer is the first installer to NOT install Engineering Sample device files by default. You have to select this during the installation. If you did not (or are not sure) then you can select "Add Design Tools or Devices 2017.1" in the Xilinx folder in the Start menu and add them in. I think this was the part missing for you."

window got me

Hello Josh,
Just resolved this issue. When I created a init.tcl file, windows set the  file type property to text. This caused Vivado not to see the file. I corrected the file type to tcl and the problem went away.
Thanks for the help by verifying I was doing almost everything correct. I blame claim operator error for letting windows get to me.

same problem

I have verified the license, unzipped the board files, and created a init.tcl file in the script directory with enable_beta_device* as its contents and verified that windows sees this as a tcl file. and the board files are still not reconized.

HostID match read NO

I Open up my Vivado License Manager and click on View License Status. Under the "Host IDs Match" section it reads NO. Then I double check the HostID in the license, it matchs the net MAC of the host. Why?

Hello Yan,

Hello Yan,

You will need to regenerate your license with the correct HostID, for some reason it is not liking your net MAC. My suggestion for you would be to use your disk serial number which you can find by when you have the Viviado license Manager open by clikcing on the View Host Information Tab on the left hand side.

--Josh

Hello, JFoster

I follow your suggestion and try to regenerate my license using my disk serial  number .However, it shows "Drive Serial Number:   not supported on this platform".
PS: My OS is CentOS7.3 and Vivado is 2016.2

Hello,JFoster

Hello,JFoster
I am sorry.I use the error license before. Now Vivado works good with es1 license.
