Using DisplayPort Tutorial Compatability with RED UltraZed Boards

Has the Displayport Example found here (http://zedboard.org/support/design/17596/131) been tested on the RED UltraZed boards with the ES1 engineering silicon?
Has anyone tested the pre-generated boot.bin and image.ub files from that tutorial on the RED versions of the UltraZed SOM + I/O Card Carrier?
I can't seem to get tricube to display on my monitor and I am wondering if the issue is because I'm using these RED boards with the engineerng parts.
Petalinux boots up just fine, there are just issues with getting the OS to interface with my DisplayPort Monitor.

UltraZed EG DisplayPort design - SOM compatibility

I have both version of the UltraZed 3EG SOM:

- red board => ES1 silicon

- black board => production silicon

I just validated the "production silicon" design images (BOOT.BIN & image.ub) with the ES1 silicon SOM (red board), and the DisplayPort output interface works fine.  The ethernet interface does not work, but that is expected since the ethernet phy address is different on both SOMs.

I have tested the design on one DisplayPort monitor : SAMSUNG 4K LU28E590DS

Your issue may be related to the specific DisplayPort monitor. 

What is your DP monitor manufacturer and model ? What resolutions does your monitor support ?

The model name/number isn't

The model name/number isn't clearly labeled but after googling one of the codes on the back, I believe what I have is
Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23" Monitor
I believe it supports the following resolutions:
640 x 480
800 x 600
1024 x 768
1152 x 864
1280 x 1024
1920 x 1080
Does anything about this look off to you?

Hey Ric,
I ended up figuring out that a few more jumpers on my board needed to be changed in order for the DisplayPort Hardware in the SOC to turn on. Indeed you were correct JP1 needed to be open, but what I realized also was that J2 and J3 jumpers needed to short out pins 2 and 3. 
From what I can understand after reviewing the schematic, I think the reason why moving these jumpers worked is the following: There are three jumpers are associated with a Clock Synthesizer chip on the board and the associated jumpers affect how the Clock Synthesizer is configured. It looks like the Clock Synthesizer might be responsible for the clock generation of the DisplayPort, SATA, USB3, and PL. When JP1 is shorted, the Clock Synthesizer will configure according to some preset configurations that were flashed in. However, there are four possible preset configurations, and those are selectable using the other two jumpers. When JP1 is not shorted, it gets its configurations via I2C from the Zynq Arm PS. In this case, the other two jumpers need to be set in another way to be used for I2C.
 
I can now see those four files in /sys/class/drm, namely card0, card0-DP-1, controlD64, and version and it can detect when a DP monitor is connected or not, however, the Ultrazed still cannot seem to output to the monitor properly. It could be the monitor, but we were able to get a ZCU102 to properly output to that monitor.
 
Ric, did you need to do anything else beside using the jumpers to get the DP working? You used the pregenerated boot.bin and image.ub files straight from the design reference zip? How are your J2, J3 jumpers set?
 
What does your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file output?
I noticed a error in the logfile which complained about the glx module failing to load because there was no module detected. Are you getting that error?

Hi, to answer your questions:
1) yes, J2 and J3 are closing pins 2-3 (seems the default position)
2) I use pre-compiled version from reference zip
3) my log is similar to the post from thibchap (in display port reference design thread), no error to see if I am right but check yourself
4) sw2 on SOM is 1010, you can see the boot sequence from SD card if ít is working.

Correct, since the design makes use of the IDT clock synthesizer,

the J1 and J2 jumpers must be placed at positions 2-3, and jumper JP1 removed.

This will allow the IDT part to be programmed by the ZynqU+ device via I2C.

The documentation has been updated.
