Is ZedBoard SD reader compatible with ultra high speed SD cards?

I would like to know if the Zedboard SD reader is compatible with the SD cards new generation, the ultra high speed SD cards. I also would like to know if there could be performance benefits. Thanks a lot.

Hope this helps

I am using SD card that's marked with "UHS Speed Class 1" and "class 10" with Zedboard. The SD card boots up significantly faster than regular SD cards.

I'm also using 32GB SanDisk

I'm also using 32GB SanDisk UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) card without any problems.

Which 32GB SD Cards Work ???

Which 32GB SanDisk card did you use that worked?

I've tried Sandisk Ultra UHS-1 32GB MicroSD (with adapter) and the linux kernel hung during boot - before even trying to mount the rootfs.

My Sandisk Ultra UHS-1 16GB MicroSD card fails the same way.

My Sandisk Ultra UHS-1 8GB MicroSD card works fine.

Why does the 8GB work? Did I just get lucky?
Why does 32GB fail (same brand, type, etc) ?

I tried a 16GB Samsung EVO UHS-1 and that worked. I will try a Samsung 32GB EVO soon.

However, I don't feel confident with all this. Is it just pot luck? Surely there must be some spec that says these types of cards should or shouldn't work.

Any help greatly appreciated.
