How to measure the power consumption of an application on zedboard

Hi everybody

I'm new to zedboard. Does anyone know if there is a way that I can measure the power consumption of a particular application running on the zedboard?

Thank you

You can measure total board

You can measure total board power by measuring the voltage across pins 1 and 2 of J21 and divide by 10milliohms to get the input current. Then multiply that by your measured input voltage (should be 12V but measure it anyway for more accurate results). If you need more specific power numbers like for each individual rail there is no easy way to do that. That type of power measurement would mean modifying the PCB to insert current loops on all the outputs.

Just monitoring the change in total board power should give you a pretty good idea of relative power changes though.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris

Hi Chris

I'm running different applications on the board each time and trying to do a comparison, but the measurements I got were always 2.8mv (even if i ran a simple hello world) which was really odd.

Same Problem

Hi,
Do you figure out why you always get the same results when running different applications? I have a same problem on the measurement :(
