The tutorial instructs the user how to build a Programmable Logic based display controller design from scratch using Xilinx design tools.  Example standalone software projects are provided to demonstrate display and touch controller functionality.  Required hardware includes PicoZed SOM plus PicoZed FMC Carrier Card V2 and the 7-inch Zed Touch Display Kit.

Please note that both ALI2 and ALI3 display kit versions are supported.

This tutorial builds upon the Display Panel Controller Standalone Tutorial by implementing a fully featured Ubuntu Desktop distribution, contained within the root file system. The desktop environment allows the MicroZed to function as an embedded computer using touch input along with an LCD display panel to allow user interaction.  Required hardware includes MicroZed (with I/O Carrier Card) and the 7-inch Zed Touch Display Kit.

This Reference Design/Tutorial supports the older ALI2 display kit hardware only.
